Caving trips with the hobo pancake geezer alias, knot tying dude, yesterday was another exemplary to the normal no individual challenge, a massive group encouragement enabling all to achieve the nigh on impossible. Charlie with tears that Sir Edmund Hillary would have wiped away with the same flag he captured Everest with – such courage that any member of the Scout movement would have been proud to have been part of.
Most people who have worked along with me on this camp have made a great effort with their emotions, excursions and sheer determination to complete all the tasks set in the cave. Two other special people who strived to succeed have been Emily Patrick who squeezed to success and Brooke Martin who sacrificed her first trip as another scout unconfident to try. However, we’ll be trying to overcome her fears of tight spaces tomorrow. Well done everybody.

Hiking was great yesterday as 4 of us and Skip walked up to Sugar Loaf. We had some great laughs and had a good day out, we learnt how to do a Yoda impression by Skip and we tried to teach him how to be an average human being, IT DIDNT WORK. We got to know each other and everyone’s personality like me as banana head.

Anthony: I was near the middle of the trip most of the time. I found it really fun because it was flat terrain and a long trip. It wasn’t so fun because I got really tired and the saddle was really hard. Overall I had a great time on the bike ride.
Dan: I thought the bike ride was really good because I was always in front most of the time so I got longer breaks. The only bad thing was that it was about 11 miles and it was tiring.

The Sports Evening got everyone active yesterday with Gloscamp’s best sporty Scouts competing. Three Tournaments were for Volleyball, Football and Tug of War.
All Tournaments went well with exciting matches and fun had by all. The Gold winners were presented with their Sydney the Sheep trophies at Flag Break today. All in all a great event that left everyone in good spirits.

Last night I heard some leaders
Complain about the flies
And it got me thinking
As I gazed up at the skies
Of a time long long ago
This was to my surprise!
Of the very first Gloscamp
Where we really did have flies
It was to a place a long way away
To a forest far north of here
A Scout camp in Northumberland
They called it Kielder
For at Kielder we travelled too
From all over Gloucestershire
Both Scouts and Guides, big and small
Many buses we did hire
This poem gets quite tricky now
As the memories come flooding back
Of activities and friends
And all the fun we had
Now this camp is no different
And memories you’ll keep
Of Scouting fun and friends
As you slowly drift to sleep.
*Were you at Kielder for the first Gloscamp? Let the news centre know if so!*.
